Today we are having a special birthday celebration, in honor of Marguerite Henry!
Marguerite Henry was born April 13, 1902, and wrote 59 books during her amazing career. She received the Newbery Honor for Justin Morgan Had a Horse and Misty of Chincoteague. She received the Newbery Medal for King of the Wind. She finished her last book, Brown Sunshine of Sawdust Valley, just before her death on November 26, 1997. She was 95 years old. Thank you, Marguerite Henry, for sharing your love of the horse, one of the Lord's most graceful and beautiful creations, with us.
Some authors can touch your childhood and stay with you for a lifetime, and Marguerite Henry is one of those authors. Her books are great read aloud titles for both of our horse unit studies!
